THE ROLE OF THE NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE:-
  1. To intensify Kenya’s participation in the activities of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) at all appropriate levels
  2. To oversee regional projects that have a direct link with national priorities;
  3. To co-ordinate priority projects identified in the poverty reduction strategy paper;
  4. Monitoring  and Evaluation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s);
  5. Monitoring and Evaluation of the implementation of the APRM National programme of Action;
  6. To market the NEPAD initiative among the business community in Kenya;
  7. To give direction to the National Secretariat which shall be responsible for implementing the decisions of the NEPAD steering committee.
  8. To oversee and give direction to the  National Secretariat operations such as:-
    • Preparation of Budgets, Financial Policies and Procedures;
    • Recruitment of National Secretariat staff  & Human Resources Development;
    • Preparation of strategic framework.
    • Preparation of work plans relating to National & Regional Programmes and projects.
