YALDA Conference 2008
At Conference, the NEPAD Kenya Secretariat was represented and made a presentation titled “The Role of the Youth in Development- In the context of the APRM.”   In addition the NEPAD staff facilitated a workshop on creative ways of empowering the youth.  Other speakers at the conference were Mr. Pete Ondeng’ (Kenya), Mr. Aaron Kirunda (Uganda), Bukamu Leone Hulela (South Africa) and Ethan Mussolini (Uganda).

Following the participation and presentation at the conference, NEPAD Kenya was presented with a ‘Positive Inspiration Award’ for being a partner in the YALDA 2008 Conference. In addition the NEPAD Staff were present with the Positive Inspiration Awards as distinguished speakers.

The conference came in the backdrop of The African Union declared that the year 2008 is the Year of African Youth, also called YAY 2008.  The Second Ordinary Session of the African Union Conference of the Ministers In charge Of Youth in February 2008, declared 2008 as the Year of African Youth with the theme: “African Youth for Peace and Development.”
